My (Lara Dutta) fitness regimen: Yoga is the best thing that happened to me. I firmly believe that yoga coupled with strength training creates a stronger, leaner and more flexible body. I have been a yoga practitioner for over 12 years and the benefits that I have reaped have been immense.
I managed to get back in shape after pregnancy by: Getting back to moderate exercise eight weeks after the birth of my daughter. Three months later, I had resumed my regular workout. On an average, I work out for an hour and a half five times a week, under the guidance of my trainer and my yoga instructor Tonia Clarke. I follow a combination of cardio and weight training along with core strengthening.
My diet: I eat plenty of pulses, grains and cereals as well as fruits and vegetables. I am careful about what I eat, but I do indulge in treats in moderation. While I was pregnant, my sinful craving was a Mint Macarena milkshake.
My best body feature: My eyes.
The best compliment I have received for my body: ‘You have got a lean body.’
My take on the relationship between fitness and health: These two are the most important things in one’s life. You truly have to be very healthy so that when you exercise, it works on your body.
