Arjan Bajwa is breaking his image; and he is happy doing so. The actor says, “After Fashion (in which he played Priyanka Chopra’s boyfriend), people started presuming that I am the good boy and I got stuck in that limited space. I feel an actor should get opportunities to be versatile.”
So Arjan grabbed the opportunity when he got a chance to essay a tough, grey-shaded character in the Vidya Balan starrer, Bobby Jasoos. He reveals, “I am playing a negative role of someone at loggerheads with Bobby. The film showcases a love hate-relationship between Bobby and my character, Lala.”
The actor says he constructed the character in his mind and adds, “I went for a week-long workshop with the cast before the film began. It’s not a run-of-the-mill role. I have been quality-conscious about the films I do. I am keen to do roles which have a distinct look and character and where one can use one’s body language to the optimum. If you look at my career graph — Guru, Crook, Fashion and Son of Sardaar – all the roles were distinctly different.”
“I have known Vidya since the Guru days and she hasn’t changed.”
Bobby Jasoos also afforded Arjan a chance to work with Vidya, with whom he had co-starred in Mani Ratnam’s Guru (2007) in which he had played a businessman while Vidya had essayed the role of a physically challenged woman. Arjan insists that the vibes were not any different even after the passage of seven years.
“I have known her since the Guru days (we didn’t have any scenes together) and she is a friend now. In spite of achieving great heights in her career, she has not changed. She is very humble.”
