Bobby Jasoos is a film based on the life of a woman detective. This is Bollywood’s first woman detective film in Bollywood. Directed by Samar Shaikh, this film is average, unlike Vidya’s previous great works.
Here is Samar Shaikh’s Bobby Jasoos movie review:
Bobby (Vidya Balan) is an aspiring detective from Hyderabad. She takes up petty cases and uses her intelligence and wit and solves cases. One fine day she is given a case by the powerful Khan (Kiran Kumar). She rushes to grab the offer looking at the perks without once giving a thought about what she’s getting herself into.
As she begins solving the case for Khan, her bank balance shoots up. All is well until one day she begging questing her acts and soon begins to unravel the truth.
Also, there’s a romantic angle involved with Tassavur (Ali Fazal) and Bobby is seen spending some bitter-sweet moments with him.
Vidya Balan plays a happy-go-lucky girl in her 30s. He character is simple and she naturally has a flair for comedy, which makes it easier to admire her. However, her character is not as convincing as that in Kahaani or The Dirty Picture. One thing that we found amazing was Vidya’s various get ups in the film. She’s the man!!
Other actors are pretty good. Ali Faizal is fantastic but he doesn’t get to steal much limelight. Kiran Kumar is undoubtedly talented.
To sum it up, Bobby Jasoos is a pretty decent film but lacks the dramatic element needed to keep you hooked to the scene. The story starts off on a good note but slowly trails off leaving the viewer disinterested.
