We had recently told you that Bollywood superstar, Shahrukh Khan was all set to receive France’s highest honour. Well, yesterday, 1 July, the actor was conferred with the Knight of the Legion of Honour, which also happens to be his mother’s birth anniversary.
Shahrukh Khan, the superstar and legend of Indian cinema was honoured by the French Government, Mr Laurent Fabius with the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur. He was presented with a customized jeroboam of Moët & Chandon – the Champagne of cinema and movie stars across the world.
The happy actor said: “It’s my mother’s birthday. If she was alive, apart from being extremely old, she would have been extremely happy that her son has got the highest and the most prestigious honour in the world… so thank you on behalf of my mother.”
The actor also spoke a few French lines, which he had written in Hindi and brought it along to the ceremony. He wasn’t embarrassed to show the small piece of paper to the spectators.
