Considering Bobby Jasoos is a spy thriller, has the makers planned a special promotional strategy?
Yes, I think there’s so much that can be planned for the promotion of a film like Bobby Jasoos. You know on a reality show I made an appearance in disguise and it was great fun. Even for our city tours we have planned something unique.
So you’re the master of disguise now?
(Laughs) You can say that. The journey and process of creating and enacting different characters on screen is what I enjoyed the most. I have done it for the first time. There’s so much we had to do in terms of makeup and costume. I enjoyed the male disguise more. I love sporting beard, moustaches and spectacles. There are twelve looks in the film. Makeup artist Thiya and Vidyadhar and Shreyas Mhatre has done a fantastic job. I just had to be there and get ready. None would recognise me during the trials. A lot of time was spent on looks but I enjoyed it the most.
Out of these twelve characters which one is your favourite?
I think the beggar one was quite interesting. It so happened that on the first day of shoot in Hyderabad, I sat with real beggars on the street and they were quite amused to see me. No one realised my identity. In fact, they started fighting with me (laughs). Thankfully, production people informed them and showed cameras. Later, they allowed me to sit next to them (Laughs loud).
You must have had a whale of time shooting the film…
I have spent a lot of time with the writer and director as I wanted to know everything about their vision of Bobby and how would the character eventually end up shape up. I realised I’ll be happy taking instructions from him and I’m glad they made me look and play something different. I was dressed as a Maulvi and stood next to the light man who was busy setting up the lights. He turned to me and said, ‘Yaha se hato, film shooting ho rahi hai yahaa. Later someone informed him and he apologised to me. I kept bulling him.
You’re quite active on gossip blog which shows you’re quite interest in gossiping?
I don’t like gossiping. But now I will get to know about it, thanks to the blog. Earlier, whenever I used to share something interesting with friends, they used to say it’s old. I thought it would be an interesting thing as everyone asked me which Bollywood celebrity you want to do jasoosi on. So I thought why not make a gossip blog. Interestingly, people have called me to praise about the blog. They ended up giving me stories too.
Talking about gossip, your personal life has been under scanner for some time now. There have been reports about the trouble between you and your husband Siddharth Roy Kapur…
I think I’ve clarified that recently and there’s no truth to it. We are very happy together and will always be. I don’t think there’s any need to take it forward.
Are you doing the biopic based on the popular writer Kamala Surayya?
I am not aware about it. I am not doing any biopic at the moment. I am reading scripts and meeting people but haven’t finalised anything as yet. Hamari Adhoori Kahani should start in September.
