The 3 Idiots actor, who has been missing in action for the last two years, will soon be seen in a romcom opposite Govinda.
It was Raj Kumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots that made Omi Vaidya a household name but after the film’s release, Omi got typecast and played similar roles in movies such as Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji, Desi Boyz, Players and Jodi Breakers that released in 2012. Post that, Omi went into hibernation only to return with a romantic comedy this year starring Govinda.
A source informs, “Govinda and Omi are doing a film together which will go on floors soon. The film will be directed by Harish who has directed Marathi films and commercials earlier and will be produced by a Delhi-based producer, Sandeep Jain.”
“It’s a Kannada movie remake,” the source informs elaborating, “It’s a good subject and gives a good message for the youth. It’s basically targeted at youth. It’s about how the present generation kids who prefers to be in a live-in relationship with their girlfriends and when things go wrong, they break up and take unwanted steps like suicide. Though the issues depicted in the film would be serious but these are presented in a humorous way. Govinda plays Omi’s friend and mentor like how Salman played mentor to Govinda in Partner. The film is likely to go on floors by September this year.”
