Abhishek, “Rekhaji understood the kind of film I am trying to make.”
It is well known that the diva Rekha handpicks her films – the diva has been rarely seen onscreen of late.
But as the eternal beauty gets ready to hit 60 in October this year, there is good news for Rekh’a followers. She will soon be seen in two new films. Indra Kumar’s Super Naani is ready for release shortly and she has a biggie on hand – Abhsihek Kapoor’s Fitoor in which she co-stars with Katrian Kaif and Aditya Roy Kapoor.
Abhishek Kapoor was amazed at how receptive she was when he narrated the script of Fitoor to her. He reveals, “She responded very well, and wanted to be a part of the story.”
Fitoor is a contemporary adaptation of Charles Dickens’s Great Expectations and the actress will be playing a character called Begum which approximately reprises the character of Miss Havisham from Dickens’ classic. Before approaching Rekha, the director had also approached Tabu and Sridevi but he is now clearly delighted to have her on board.
Abhishek says, “I have always held Rekhaji in high esteem, she is fabulous. She studied the script deeply and understood the kind of film I am trying to make.
The film revolves around the love of a Kashmiri boy, Noor, and the object of his affection, Firdaus. And the kind of story I am telling, needs stars of Rekhaji’s stature.”
