Beginning his directorial debut with television, Imtiaz Ali slowly made his way up and took to cinema. Although he had quite a rough start, today he is one of Bollywood’s most wanted directors. He has directed several films, produced one and been a writer for every film he has director. He is an award winning director and almost all his films have been a huge success.

Socha Na Tha

Socha Na That stars Abhay Deol and Aysha Takia in lead roles. The film wasn’t a huge success and marked Imtiaz Ali’s directorial debut. It wasn’t quite an impressive start but this didn’t stop Imtiaz from doing better in future projects.

Jab We Met

This film has got to be Imtiaz Ali’s best film so far and will be remembered for a life time. Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor have done a wonderful job in the film under the able direction of Imtiaz. After a long hiatus he finally made a master piece.

Love Aaj Kal

After basking in the glory of Jab We Met, director Imtiaz Ali went on to make Love Aaj Kal with actors Deepika Padukone and Saif Ali Khan. The film didn’t do so well but as usual, the music of the film was fabulous.


Rockstar was a complex but good film. Imtiaz Ali took much effort to make every scene, song and little detail seem perfect. Rockstar stars Ranbir Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri and has some wonderful music to its credit, all thanks to imtiaz’s collaboration with AR Rahman.


The film stars Alia Bhatt and Randeep Hooda in lead roles. Imtiaz Ali sat on the director’s seat after a gap of almost three years and the film did quite well at the Box Offfice.
