May 2014 is one month singer-composer Ankit Tiwari might just like to forget in haste. His Ek Villain song ‘Galiyan’ had just been released but even before he could bask in the warmth of its success, he was arrested on charges of rape. Out of bail, Ankit Tiwari is not looking back.
The ‘Sunn raha hai na tu’ creator is already back to work. When asked about the turn of events, Ankit says, “I will talk when the time is right. Right now, the matter is sub-judice.” Switching tracks, he adds, “However I am must say I humbled by the reaction of people to the song ‘Galiyan’ … this is power of the music. People have showered unprecedented love.”
Interestingly ‘Galiyan’ also marks the debut of Shraddha Kapoor as a singer. “It was during a press conference of Aashiquie 2 that I discovered that Shraddha could sing. Of course, she did not sound like a professional but I knew that she would do really well with some training. When I started working on Galiyan, Mohit (Suri, the film’s director) asked me if I could try Shraddha as the singer as he wanted her to actually sing the song and not just lip-sync. She has done so beautifully,” says the composer as he rushes between work meetings.
Notwithstanding his legal troubles, Ankit is inundated with work. “I was out on May 23 and I was back to work the next day. In fact, Bhatt saab called me personally to start work on his next,” informs Ankit, who has worked with Mohit for the second time in Ek Villain after Aashiqui 2. “I am also doing Mohit’s next Hamari Adhuri Kahaani, Mr X, and Khamoshiyaa with Vishesh Films,” he says.
