Vidya Balan’s inspiration is Karamchand

It was back in the 1980′s when actor Pankaj Kapur did India’s first ever detective series called Karamchand where he played the lead role and became very popular. It is Karamchand’s character that inspired National award winning actress Vidya Balan to take up her role of a detective in Bobby Jasoos.

“The first time ever i heard about the word ‘jasoos’ was when i saw Karamchand. So Karamchand is actually ‘jasoosi’ for me” said Vidya who plays a detective in her upcoming film produced by Dia Mirza’s Bornfree Entertainment. It is the first time ever that a Bollywood film will show a female detective in a lead role and the story revolves around her.

“Bollywood films with a detective subject have usually done well and I am sure about Bobby Jasoos too. It is completely a woman oriented film and we are experimenting with it. To top it up when we have Vidya Balan in the lead role, the film will do brilliant”, spoke a confident Dia who is sure that her film will rock the box office.
