In conversation with Akshay Kumar

How joyful is it to see your (Akshay Kumar) kids grow?

It’s the biggest joy in your life. Earlier, when I would hear ‘pack up,’ I was not so interested in going back home but now I want to go back home because I have a wife and children. To hear my children calling dadda is a huge joy. Only after I got married, I realised this joy is something I can’t measure.

Will we see Twinkle coming back in films?

No. I asked her if she wants to but she said she wants to be happy.

What is Twinkle’s contribution in your professional life … does she read your scripts?

No, she does not read my scripts. She is not interested in doing all that. She has her own life but is happy when I come home. We have a good family and that makes her happy.

Is it a conscious decision to keep your kids away from the limelight?

It’s a conscious decision to keep my son away from limelight. I think it is better to keep them away from what is in newspapers. I want to give them a normal childhood.

Is your son Aarav keen on martial arts?

My son is a brown belt and has just won a gold medal in judo in a national championship. I am a proud father.

You are good with Martial arts any plans of opening any academy for kids?

I want kids to be taught martial arts in school. I am in talks with the government to include martial arts as a compulsory subject for boys and girls. I look forward to that day for at least three years. It is my dream. I feel this is important than physics, maths etc. What I understand from martial arts is self discipline, self defense and good health. I believe in martial arts and hence I promote it. For me, martial art is not about earning money. It has taught me a lot.
