Anupam Kher, whose wife Kirron Kher is contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, says she is a very strong woman. Recently, when Kirron came to Chandigarh (the place where she is contesting from), she was reportedly met by protesters who raised slogans against her and had eggs thrown at her.
Talking about it, Anupam says “There were just…maybe 7-8 protesters. A very negligible number of people. And I say, everyone hasright to protest in a democracy. Neither Kirron nor I minded the protest. It was nothing. So much hue and cry is being made about a handful of protesters. What about the 500 supporters who came to support and cheer Kirron at the airport? As for reports that eggs were thrown at her, please show me those eggs.I’d like to make omelettes of them.”
“They probably felt there were others more qualified for the tickets. But they must understand if the high command thinks a particular candidate is eligible then we must all respect that decision and not throw tantrums, like a child who has been denied a toy,” says Anupam on being asked why he thinks the protest happened.
He maintains that his wife is not shaken by the protests at all. “She is a strong woman, She is getting ready for a long innings in politics. As for me, I’ve no plans ofever getting into active politics. One politician in the family is enough,” said the actor who will be seen next in Gang of Ghosts
