Bollywood actress Gul Panag, known for playing unique roles, was rumored to be a strong contender for the Aam Aadmi Party ticket from Chandigarh. She later tweeted in clarification saying, “Hold your fire. For now. There is no ‘offer’. Have applied. #nowwaiting . #kthxbai“.
There were a lot of talks that AAP, in need of candidate from Chandigarh urgently after Savita Bhatti, the late Jaspal Bhatti’s wife, backed out of the fray, wanted to get former Miss India and actress Gul on board. She’s already a strategy advisor of the AAP.
Sources in the party’s local unit said that Tuesday evening was hectic, as it saw its top brass rushing to a special meeting in Delhi to decide on Gul’s inclusion. Her father, Lt Gen (retd) HS Panag, is also a member of the party.
