Metro Manila’s Bollywood avatar ‘CityLights’ to release on May 1

‘CityLights’, the official remake of ‘Metro Manila’, an award winning British-Filipino film, will be releasing in the country on May 1.

The collaboration of Fox Star Studios and Vishesh Films, who have earlier given blockbusters in the past are yet again prepared to give a path-breaking movie experience with ‘CityLights’.

The film which is Hansal Mehta’s directorial features Rajkumar Rao, who recently won awards for his splendid performance in ‘Shahid’.

The actor is paired with actress Patralekha, who will be make her debut with this film.

The movie is about life of a farmer in Rajasthan who comes to the city of Mumbai with his daughter and wife in a hope of a better living. Their encounter with the big city and the way they take up challenged nurtured by the power of their love is what the movie is all about.

‘Metro Manila’ received a lot of critical acclaim and was appreciated at the British Independent Film Awards, Amazonas Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Hamburg Film Festival. It was also Britain’s entry for the best foreign language film category at the 86th Academy Awards.
