Akshay Kumar’s production venture Fugly was one of the big films releasing this May with boxing champ Vijender Singh and Anil Kapoor’s nephew Mohit making a debut in it. So why is it that it got postponed to further ahead into the year? Although there were a lot of reasons that everyone was making up for the postponement of Fugly, it turns out that the actual reason was Akshay and Ashvin’s (his co-producer) conscious decision to avoid clashing with Sajid Nadiadwala’s Heropanti (starring Tiger Shroff).
Akshay and Ashvin knew Sajid really well and were kind enough to let Tiger Shroff’s debut film have its own space in the theatres as they thought that just like their film, this too was a youthful entertainer.
Here’s what Ashvin spoke about the issue, “Both Akshay and I share our individual friendship with Sajid and we took the joint decision to inform him of moving out film’s release. Both our movies are youth-oriented films and are launching new talent in our industry. So it’s important to give both the films the chance they deserve and it wouldn’t be fair to divide the audience. Although the genres may be similar, their individual subject matters are very unique.”
And the release date for Fugly has not yet been decided by the producers but it might not be anytime close to May 16th, the initial release date.
