Abhishek Bachchan being appointed as the ambassador for END7 campaign for India (to end neglected tropical diseases, NTD’s) is the best thing that must’ve happened to the nation, we think, as he’s been taking his job really really seriously. After researching on which place in India has the highest rate of NTD’s and finding out that it is in Odisha, he travelled all the way till Bhubaneshwar and interacted with people afflicted with Elephantiasis, one of the biggest NTDs of our country.
Upon meeting the people afflicted with the disease, Abhishek Bachchan was really moved and decided that he will work harder to make sure that all these people get the right treatment. “We have a staggering proportion of fellow Indians who are infected by or at risk of contracting at least one NTD.My first site visit with END7 has been a deeply moving, personal experience that allowed me to understand how these diseases can devastate entire families through the pain and stigma they cause” was what the actor spoke in regard to the issue.
Talking about how this experience strengthened his resolution to eliminate the diseases, here’s what Abhishek Bachchan added, “We are making good progress and have free, safe treatments available. But we must build greater momentum and every Indian should do their part to help make defeating NTDs by 2020 our country’s next big health success story.” We seriously hope that his dream gets fulfilled..
