A tribute to the most splendid director: Sanjay Leela Bhansali

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for making films that give you a ‘larger than life’ feel. His sets are grand, his actors are talented and his direction is fabulous. We’re talking about a director who has won more awards than the number of films he has directed.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut as a director was with the film Khamoshi: The Musical. The film stars Salman Khan and Manisha Koirala in lead roles. The film was a failure but it received critical appreciation. The film didn’t give him a chance to show off his skills.

However, his next film Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, however, brought a significant change in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s career graph. This film was his shot to fame. The film went on to be a massive hit. Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam is a love triangle and sees Aishwarya Rai, Salman Khan and Ajay Devgn in lead roles.

It was in the year 2002 that SLB’s next film hit theatres. Devdas, starring Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai went to become a massive hit and Sanjay Leela Bhansali was established as a ‘grand’ director. The sets, props and action of the film was beyond regular.

It was the film Black that broke all records in the year 2006. The story of a blind girl who is in a relationship with her teacher. The film did extremely well at the Box Office.

His next two films, Saawariya and Guzaarish didn’t do that well. However, the music of the film was much appreciated. Just when one thought Sanjay Leela Bhansali was losing his place, the film Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela made its way to the theatres and boy, was it a success! The film garnered much praise, appreciation and moolah> as well. The films leading actors Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone made sure they gave their best to bring back Sanjay Leela Bhansali to the top.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has always been on the top and will continue to be that way. It is his style of writing, directing and looking into minute details that make him stand apart. He has won international, national and other awards for his talent and skill. Actors in Bollywood consider it a privilege to work with this man. He has indeed contributed much to the industry.
