Though the two ruled the film-industry in the 90s and were arch rivals, Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla were never friends with each other nor did they ever interact with each other. A polite smile when they bumped into each other was the most interaction that they exchanged through the years.
The two will now be seen together in the upcoming film Gulaab Gang and when the director Soumik Sen realised the two weren’t interacting with each other, he actually locked Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla in a room.
“Sometimes, all it takes to connect is one chat and that’s exactly what happened. Within minutes, the two began to talk like long-lost friends,” explains the director.
The film, produced under the Benares Media Works and Sahara Movie Studios banners, will see Madhuri Dixit playing the role of Rajjo, a woman who fights injustice against women. Juhi Chawla will be seen in a negative role in the film. The movie is set to be released on March 7th.
The trailer of the film shows Madhuri in her kick-ass mode; beating goons up. So it was a pleasant surprise when she demonstrated her Tae-Kwon-Do skills at a recent promotional event of the film. She demonstrated self-defense techniques to women and spoke about the importance of being able to defend oneself.
