Why is A R Rahman upset with his comparisons with Mozart and Beethoven?

Oscar winning music composer A R Rahman, is very unhappy with certain names he is being associated with. The ace composer revealed on his social networking page that titles such has ‘Mozart of Madras’ and ‘Beethoven of Bollywood’ makes him feel sad. What makes us curious is, why the Madras born musician doesn’t like to be compared with the music greats. He revealed he is happy to be known as ‘Isai Puyal’ (meaning music storm).

Rahman was also content with being called ARR, AR, AR Rahman, Allahrakka Rahman, Abdur Rahman (which means Servant of God) and Indian composer. But he also said his old name ‘Dileep Kumar’ brings back few sad memories. Looks like few memories have left a very bad taste in his mind.

Winner of two Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards and a number of laurels for his impressive body of work in Indian and international films and music, the composer has a lot to look forward in 2014 too. Some of his much awaited Tamil releases include Ai, Kochadaiyaan and Kaaviya Thalaivan.
