Ranveer Singh after a successful release of Gunday, is eagerly waiting to start shooting for Kill Dill with his childhood hero Govinda. While the young actor may be known to make the world go speechless, Ranveer feel short of words when talking about his favorite hero.
“I am beyond words when it comes to describing the feeling that it is to be on a film set with Govinda. I have been his fan from childhood. I have watched his RAJA BABU for 64 times. I love the way he dances. I am just crazy about him and his films. I copy him in my real life. Even in my school days I used to perform on his songs. I flabbergasted my teachers and principal with my performance and even won prizes for dancing on the numbers ‘Meri Pant Bhi Sexy’, ‘Sarkaai Lo Khatiya’,” Ranveer gets nostalgic.
Where Govinda’s contemporaries are still riding high, the original entertainer of the film industry is missing from the action.
Tell Ranveer about Govinda’s dwindling career and he roots for his star stating, “May be his contemporaries are still ruling the roost for all practical purposes but there’s one thing which absolutely is undisputable that nobody had ever talent like him. Comedy is probably the hardest thing to do. He was the only one with the flair for comedy for the longest run. There’s never been anybody who’s done a mainstream lead actor who does comedy like him so effortlessly. I challenge anybody to watch a Govinda movie and engage with it and not cry when he cries. I have cried every time Govinda has cried on-screen.”
He goes on to add, “He’s danced in the same frame with some legendary dancers. There are films that he is done with thespians….and you can’t get eyes off because he is in the frame. So for me, he has been always outstanding talent. He’s been a sheer brilliance.”
So, probe Ranveer, if Kill Dill will be a game-changer for Govinda and he with absolute confidence, “110%! KILL DILL will prove as a game-changer for Govinda. It’s been a long time coming this reminder to audiences that Govindaji is one of the most stellar talents that we’ve ever had in the film industry. You will see a different side of Govinda in KILL DILL, which you have never ever seen. He’ll be in an avatar which he has never done in all of his body of work. This is his first out-n-out negative role.”
He adds in ecstatic tone, “When Shaad came with the script to Adi (Aditya Chopra) and discussed, they were just pondering as to who can play Bhaiyyaji’s role. But when Shaad suggested Govinda’s name, Adi leapt out of his seat. It was a genius idea to cast him. It’s indeed a surreal feeling. I can’t believe that I am sharing the screen space with Govinda.”
Ranveer further shares his wonderful experience with the veteran actor, “I had a very emotional moment when we wrapped up the shoot of KILL DILL. We had a blast but if I narrate about him I will probably break down. I also specially screened RAM-LEELA for him. He treats me like his son.“
