Imtiaz Ali and his sweet love for music!!

Imtiaz Ali is one of Bollywood’s best directors. Like it or not, he ranks no 1 when it comes to making fun loving, unconventional and relatable contemporary films. Actors today (read ladies) die to work with this man. Call him skilled or a master mind, Imtiaz Ali just knows to play his card with perfection.

His films were always successful. But there is one thing that speaks volumes about the director’s choice. His music.

Imtiaz Ali’s films have some exceptional music. Thanks to his efficient music directors. He has directed close to six films and every film of his has a different genre of music.

Jab We Met, the 2007 release, had a series of amazing songs that topped the chartbusters. The music director of this film was Pritam. imtiaz Ali made sure that he paid keen attention to every song and every single lyric. Songs of that film like Mauja Hi Mauja and Tum Se Hi went on to be super hits.

Imtiaz Ali and Pritam once again teamed up for films like Love Aaj Kal and Cocktail. Imtiaz Ali was the writer for the latter. Nevertheless, his involvement in the music of Cocktail resulted in some great tracks. Aaj Din Chadheya and Dooriyan from Love Aaj Kal and Tumhi Ho Bandhu, Daaru Desi and Second Hand Jawaani of Cocktail went on to be massive hits.

After tasting success with Pritam, Imtiaz Ali moved on to bigger grasslands. This time he decided to get together with AR Rehman for his film Rockstar which released in 2011. Rockstar was a musical film and therefore, it was but obvious that he had to look into every minute detail of the musical part of the film. And with an amazing artist like AR Rehman, the music had to be nothing less than magnificent. The songs from Rockstar, especially Naadaan Parindey, Sadda Haq and Tum Ho are hummed even today.

Imtiaz Ali’s latest film Highway which is all set to hit theatres this weekend once again sees the ace director teaming up with the fabulous music director AR Rehman. the music of the film has already begun gaining popularity. Thanks to AR Rehman, the track Maahi Ve from this film leaves you with goosebumps.

The director’s taste and love for music reflect in everyone of his films. We eagerly look forward to his upcoming films and specially the music of those!
