Ranbir Kapoor and Arjun Rampal were supposed to fly down to South Africa in March to shoot for their upcoming film Roy. The director of the film was to fly down there last week, to recce the place along with the director of photography S Nataraja. The recce trip has been postponed following an FIR that Preity Zinta filed against the DOP Natarajan.
Preity’s complaint at the Khar police station states that Natarajan, who was also the DOP of her home production Ishq in Paris, took an advance payment of Rs 20 lakhs from her and has not returned the amount despite dropping out of the film.
After he got a notice about the complaint, Natarajan flew to Chennai and has applied for an anticipatory bail. Natarajan previously worked as the DOP in films like Raanjhnaa, Love Aaj Kal, etc.
“She had signed Nataraja for Rs 85 lakh and had given him Rs 20 lakh as the signing amount. He had worked on the film for eight months before he was dropped. He thinks he was entitled to the advance. Preity’s sudden move took him by surprise,” says a source.
Meanwhile, Natarajan said “I will come to Mumbai soon to sort out the matter. I had done a lot of work on Preity’s film. I don’t know what has been conveyed to her by her production team. There is definitely some misunderstanding but we should be able to sort things out.”
