While Ahana Deol’s Mumbai reception was a star studded affair, her Delhi reception was attended by who’s who of the political scenario of our country. It was attended by friends and well-wishers of her family. And because her mother Hema Malini is an MP, the politicians turning up was no surprise.
Vaibhav Vohra, the groom, was “ecstatic that she’s finally here,” and her mother Hema added, “Pehle bhi Dilli aate thay, ab toh zyada aana padega.”
Pushpa and Vipin Vohra, Vaibhav’s parents, finally welcomed Ahana to their home at a huge party at their sprawling farmhouse. The whole place, which was themed black, white and copper as per Vaibhav and Ahana’s tastes was grandly decorated with flowers flown in from Australia and Italy.
“Ab Ahana Dilli aa gayi hai, toh main milta rahoonga, dhyaan rakhoonga,” said Suresh Kalmadi, who’s known Hema for years, especially with her frequent visits to the Pune festival. Sushma Swaraj said, “Hema and Dharamji are like family to me, so this is like a family wedding. I’d gone to Esha’s wedding, but there was a Parliament session this time, so it’s good for me that there was a reception in Delhi and I could attend it.” “We are all mothers of daughters, and I look at Ahana as my daughter now. She’s my responsibility now. I think the wedding is very elegant, and Hema is the kind who would design every little thing,” said Renuka Chowdhury.
The gathering was mostly the Deols’ political friends and the Vohras’ family, with Prateik Babbar being the only Bollywood celeb at the event.
“Ahana is my childhood friend – the sisters attended my first birthday. Since our parents are both in films and we went to the same school, I was excited to come and meet her,” said Prateik, who was accompanied by Manya Patil Seth.
