How Madhuri’s Taekwondo skills helped her in Gulaab Gang

Madhuri Dixit is apparently not just a trained dancer, she has been trained in the martial arts as well! When she was in the US, Madhuri Dixit got herself trained in Taekwondo along with her kids and that was what helped her in Gulaab Gang where she had a lot of on-screen fighting to do.

“When I was Denver, I used to take my kids to a Taekwondo class. I used to sit there and wait for an hour to bring them back. One day I thought that I was just sitting and wasting my time. So, we enrolled in a family programme. We were five steps away from getting the black belt. It has helped me a lot in doing action for ‘Gulaab Gang’” was what Madhuri said talking about it.

She also thinks that being a dancer helped her with the fighting scenes in the movie. Along with all that, she trained with the Shaolin Kung Fu expert Kanishka Sharma to reach perfection while shooting for those scenes.
Here is what she added, talking about the fight scenes of Gulaab Gang, “To a certain extent dance and fight are similar. There is a rhythm to both fighting and dance scenes. The body has to move in a certain way. It was hand to hand combat so Kanishka helped me further polish my movements.”

Gulaab Gang meanwhile, is getting ready to hit the screens on the 7th of March on the women’s day.
