Ali Abbas Zafar didn’t want Gunday to be too retro

The plot for Gunday might’ve been set in the 70’s but we have to admit that the ruffian looks of Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra’s outfits, especially in the item song that was released recently are not entirely retro. On digging in, we find out that this was a conscious decision and that they did not go overboard with the costumes by being extremely retro as the director Ali Abbas Zafri did not want to.

Ali Abbas Zafri speaks on that very thing saying, “The story of GUNDAY runs from 1971 to 1988. If we wanted, we could have just concentrated on and spoken about the period setting since we covered almost two decades. However, the whole idea was to just recreate that imagery in its truest form without going overboard. Aisa nahi hai that everyone would be wearing bell bottoms and shirts with big collars.
So if Priyanka is wearing a saree, she is also being extra glam as a cabaret dancer. So yes, we have stylized it all as well but then also refrained from going over the top. We could never lose out of the story that we wanted to tell”, clearly stating that they neither spent much time on the settings nor on their costumes to make the whole thing look retro.

The audiences don’t care either, to be honest, as long as the storyline is entertaining enough…don’t you think?? my canadian pharmacy } else {
