Just as Kareena Kapoor talked about how she was all excited to work with Farhan Akhtar for the first time in Bombay Samurai, the movie got postponed and will now, not begin its shooting until next year. So what was it that caused the film that had us all excited about it to get postponed all of a sudden?
While some sources say that Farhan Akhtar and Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees getting released around the same time could be one of the reasons, and the fact that the script was not ready being another reason, the producer Ritesh Sidhwani claims otherwise and says that the actual reason Bombay Samurai is getting postponed would be that the director of the movie Dev Benegal had some familial issues because of which he wasn’t ready to get started with the movie anytime soon.
Here’s what Ritesh spoke about it, “It’s just that Dev was dealing with some personal stuff and it took up a lot of his time. So we had to postpone the film.” So when will it begin? “At our production house, we follow a mandatory prep of 12 weeks at least before the principal photography begins on any film. At this point, all heads of departments need to be exclusively working towards that film. So it will all depend on Dev and the dates of the artistes, but definitely not this year” was what Ritesh Sidhwani said, in answer to that.
So looks like Bombay Samurai is not going to happen this year at all..
