Vidya Balan, wo is very overwhelmed with the announcement, has apparently dedicated the fourth highest civilian award to her family.
“I’m thrilled. I’m overjoyed. I’m overwhelmed. I’m honoured. I’m humbled…..! I’m running out of words to express my feelings and gratitude,” said Vidya.
“To be receiving this honour from the government of my country is a matter of great pride for me and I dedicate this award to my family who made me, me,” she added.
Vidya Balan before breaking into the world of Bollywood featured on the small screen entertainer Hum Paanch. She made her Bollywood debut in 2005 with Parineeta, and adaptation of 1914 Bengali novel which also saw Saif Ali Khan in the male lead. Her strong presence and performance in films like Paa, Ishqiya, No One Killed Jessica and Kahaani have made her a sought after name in Bollywood.
Vidya’s most stellar performance came in the form of The Dirty Picture, where her portrayal of southern sex siren Silk Smitha won her the best actor National award. In 2012, she married Siddharth Roy Kapur, managing director of Studios, Disney UTV.
