The 59th Idea Filmfare Awards ceremony turned out to be an eventful night. The show hosts Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra’s left us in splits with their witty one-liners. Katrina Kaif was missing for obvious reasons as it was supposed to be Dippy’s night, PeeCee and Deepika’d off stage bonding was a sight that just couldn’t be missed, and as expected Deepika Padukone won the Best Actress award for her spectacular performance in Ram-Leela.
We bring to you what our actors quoted at the Awards night.
“I am very happy to be nominated in the Best Actor category alongside such great actors. But I am slightly disappointed that my other film ‘Lootera’ has not been highlighted as much as it deserved and has not got as many nominations. I strongly feel that my performance in ‘Lootera’ is at par with my performance in ‘Ram Leela’. ‘Lootera’ is somewhere underrated. I am sure Deepika will win the Best Actor (Female) Award”.
Mukesh Bhatt on Aashiqui 2 winning Best Music Award
“It is indeed a special evening of my life when I look back how it began with Gulshan ji, Mahesh ji and we created magic. When we planned to make Aashiqui I had cold feet. When the journey of Aashiqui 2 started, we heard 1800 tunes and selected the best ones. Ankit, Arijit and Jeet Ganguly are the 3 aces and the musicians of tomorrow”
“Since childhood I have been watching the Filmfare Awards and it has always been very special to anyone who works in the film industry. As a child I used to see legends holding the black lady and would think that I would get it someday. I didn’t get any Filmfare trophy initially (for South films) but now I have 3 of them and hope to collect more. I shall start shooting for R Balki’s film in February and am not nervous this time like in was during Raanjhanaa since Bollywood has welcomed me with open arms. I am all relaxed and comfortable now”.
“Earlier Filmfare used to come live and it used to be a family moment for us. This year is special because I have been nominated twice. Apart from acting, I’ve never dreamt of doing anything else but I still feel odd to dance in front of my dad”
“The Filmfare Awards of 1975 is the most memorable Filmfare for me. Salim and I were nominated for two films and we won three awards in the Best Story, Best Screenplay and Best Dialogues category. We were happy when we won the first award and second award. But when we won the third award, the thundering applause that we got still reverberates in my ears. This has to be the most memorable Filmfare Awards moment for me”
Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra
“Filmfare is born for the passion of cinema. It has seen many winters but the lady is still standing tall. It’s a lovely evening full of fun and lovely performances. We all meet each other and it’s a nice way to catch up. I had full faith in Farhan. He has made us all look good. If anyone wins the trophy for ‘Bhaag…’, I will be happy as we all are going to hold it together. The black lady still stands high.”
“I hope Deepika wins the award for Ram Leela. When she left home, we had never imagined that the industry will welcome her with open arms. I am more nervous than her. Every film that she has done was better than the previous”.
