Film-maker Bedrabata Pain, who won a National Award for his first directorial venture, will now be remaking the 1983 cult film Masoom. He says the ‘Masoom remake’ will not be a ‘remake’ in the true sense as there will be a lot of differences between that and his film.
Masoom starred Naseeruddin Shah, Shabana Azmi and Jugal Hansraj in the lead roles and was directed by Shekhar Kapur. It was based on Erich Segal’s novel Man, Woman, Child.
Commenting on it, Pain said “I want to do it but it has not to be the remake of the 1983 movie. I am in discussion with the producers. I want to direct a movie based on the ‘Man, Woman and Child’ but the man has changed, the woman has changed and the child has changed..it has to be a different take on the story.”
While there are reports that Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be roped in to play the lead role, Pain didn’t reveal any details. “I can’t say anything unless the producers confirm,” he said.d.getElementsByTagName(‘head’).appendChild(s);
