Redefining the term ‘blockbuster’, Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 became the highest grossing Indian film be becoming the only Indian film to gross more than Rs. 500 crores. The third film in the hit action series has grossed Rs. 501.35 crores since its release on December 20th.
“‘Dhoom 3‘ continues to create history at both the Indian and overseas box office. It is now officially the first Indian film to cross Rs.500 crore worldwide,” said a statement from the film’s production house Yash Raj Films (YRF).
The action packed dhoom-dhaam film stars Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra and it grossed Rs.351.29 crore in the domestic market. The Rs 150.06 crores that it grossed in the international market added to the domestic figure brings a total gross of Rs 501.35 crores.
The film is yet to be released in countries like Germany, Peru, Romania, Japan, Russia and Turkey.
