Deepika Padukone’s voice to be dubbed in Kochadaiiyaan

Deepika Padukone, who spoke Hindi with a Tamil accent in the movie Chennai Express, will now be seen in the Tamil movie Kochadaiiyaan, opposite Rajnikanth. The multi-lingual movie will not have Deepika Padukone’s voice. For the Tamil version, her character’s voice will be dubbed by the dubbing artiste Savitha Reddy.

Commenting on it, Soundarya Rajnikanth (the director of the film) said “Savitha was the perfect choice as Deepika’s Tamil voice. Her character has to ooze grace and elegance, along with dramatic prowess and zest, and Savitha is a perfect performer to balance both.”

A birdie tells us that even the Hindi version of the film will not have her voice and instead, her character has been dubbed for by Mona Ghosh Shetty, who had earlier dubbed for her in Om Shanti Om. The reason as to why the makers didn’t want Deepika herself to dub is a mystery.

What we are wondering is, it is an animated film and voice is the only thing that an actor can lend to an animated film. So if Deepika is not even dubbing for it, what is the point of her being in the film??
