Maine Pyaar Kiya

Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, this film was Salman Khan’s debut film. Salman Khan was paired along with Rajshree in this iconic film and the immortal song Kabootar Ja was and is loved by the public all over. Salman Khan won the Filmfare Award for the best male debut that year for this movie. Additionally, Maine Pyaar Kiya was also the biggest hit of 1989.


This 1991 film starred Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit and became the highest grosser of that year; later achieving cult status for its music.

Andaz Apna Apna

Andaz Apna Apna saw two Khans coming together on screen for the first time; Aamir Khan and Salman Khan. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, this comedy film was much appreciated by the audiences and the critics alike. Now, there are talks that a sequel to the movie might be made. Hum Aapke Hain Koun…! is perhaps the biggest hit in Salman Khan’s acting career. The National Award winning film by Sooraj Barjatya was the first Bollywood film to gross over 100 crore Rupees. It literally started the Rs. 100-crore club; almost two decades ago. It held the record for being the highest grossing Indian film of all time till 2001.

This film saw the pairing of Salman Khan with the Baadshah, Shahrukh Khan. This action film was directed by Rakesh Roshan and saw the two Khans in the roles of re-incarnated brothers. Salman Khan’s performance in this film earned him a Filmfare Best Actor nomination.

Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya

Salman Khan won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for his rockstar role in this film; opposite Kajol. This film also starred his brother Arbaaz Khan and Dharmendra. Salman Khan started his iconic shirt-less scenes with this film.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, this National Award Winning film starred Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai. The songs from this movie were major hits and the movie was labled as a ‘three hour spectacular’ by critics.
