Indians are not loose hope as Indian movie, Kamasutra 3D by Rupesh Paul is still running on the right tracks for the 86 Academy Awards with selection in the three categories – Best Motion Picture, Original Score and Original Song with 5 songs. It is the only movie from India contending in the music category lists. The 86th Academy Awards nominations will be announced live on Thursday, January 16, 2014, at 5:30 a.m. PT in the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater.
Presented by Dr. George John (GJ Entertainments) and produced under the house of Rupesh Paul Productions Ltd. (RPPL), in co-production and project design by Sohan Roy,Kamasutra 3D is the only Indian movie, in the history of Academy Awards, with 5 songs after The Great Gatsby to be selected in the Original Song category. The songs include – AygiriNandini, Saawariya, I Felt, Of Soil and HarHarMahadeva – composed by Chennai based music directors, Sachin&Sreejith while its lyrics are penned by Rupesh Paul and Pratyush Prakash.
Paul, who spent around 12 years researching and scripting the film, is now keeping his fingers crossed. Five songs in the film composed by Chennai based music directors Sachin- Sreejith have been listed in the best original song category.
“The biggest challenge is to bring these songs to the notice of 6,000 voters by following the strict guidelines of the Academy ( of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences). With our limited resources we did not even hope to be in the race. All we are allowed to do is hand over a CD with the film title written on it to the voters. We are not allowed to tempt the jury in any way,” Rupesh says.
“This is the end of reducing an epic movie to a Sherlyn Chopra starrer. The movie has been underestimated or even misread as a B-grade soft porn after casting Sherlyn Chopra in a major role. Regardless of all these, we have made a movie of international standards and with the best technophilia available at this moment. The movie was pre-sold in all international territories at almost double the price of ‘Chennai Express’ and ‘Krrish 3′”, says Rupesh.
‘Kamasutra 3D’ is based on Vatsyayana’s famous creation of Kamasutra.
“The Oscar tag has given us an opportunity to address the mainstream Indian audience to release this movie as one of the country’s best ever epic stories,” the director said.
Set in the backdrop of the ancient India, the film is about the journey of a beautiful princess who sets sail in search of her husband. In her voyage, she undergoes transformations in her body, mind and soul, with a fellow passenger who takes her through the forbidden world of love and sensuality.
