Dhoom 3 has done really well all over the world but in Pakistan, the movie beat the records that were set by Pakistani films themselves, and that is really something. The biggest record that was set in Pakistan by far was by the movie Waar that got released last month and Dhoom 3 beat that record! As per the sources, there was a lot of hype surrounding Dhoom 3 prior to its release in Pakistan and Aamir Khan’s fame in the country also helped to an extent.
Dhoom 3 was released in 56 screens in Pakistan and the collections reached upto 20 million the very first day. “Waar grossed Rs 11.4 million on its opening day but Dhoom:3 has surpassed that by a large margin” said Nadeem Mandviwalla, a film distributor of Pakistan.
Talking about how well the movie did at the bos office Mandviwalla added, “Dhoom:3′s success comes at the end of a year during which Pakistani films have done well at the box office and have also been received well. It will be interesting to see by what margin Dhoom breaks the record for the highest box office collections in Pakistan, which is held by Chennai Express with grosses of Rs 100 million.”
In spite of getting into trouble in Pakistan as Dhoom 3 got released just when Lahore High Court banned illegal importing of films, it did really well.
