Pakistani Court: Indian films banned in Pakistan

The much awaited movie Dhoom 3 firmly established its international presence by becoming the first Indian movie to be released in Pakistan after the ban on Indian films was announced. On the day the movie released, a Pakistani Court issued an order banning the release of Indian films in Pakistan.

Lahore High Court justice Khalid Mahmood Khan issued the order saying that the Federal Film Censor Board should stop issuing certificates to Indian films. This order was in response to a petition demanding a ban on Indian films as they are causing irreparable damage to the Pakistani film industry.

The Lahore High Court included Indian films and television serials in the “Negative List” under the current bilateral trade regime; under rule that restricts beaming of foreign content. Earlier, a few television channels were fined Rs. 1 crore each for airing a lot of Indian and other foreign content.
