There were reports that the IMAX tickets for Bollywood’s first IMAX movie Dhoom 3 are at sky high prices. Aamir Khan, who plays the negative lead in the film, is worried that the reports will have an effect on the audience turnout; he also added that the inflated ticket prices is a misconception as anyone with any budget can watch the film.
“If there is this misconception that the ticket prices for Dhoom 3 have been increased, then the audience will not come to watch the film in theatres. For the past two to three days I have been worried about this,” Aamir told reporters at a press conference.
“I want everyone to watch this film in their own budget. In Mumbai, there is a theater like Gaiety Galaxy where you get to see the film in Rs.70. The ticket price for Dhoom 3 is exactly like that of Chennai Express. It’s the same rate and in no theatres the ticket rate has been increased. I want to clarify this. There is not even one percent of increase in the ticket price,” Aamir said.
“There are a total four to five theaters of IMAX in India – two in Mumbai, one in Hyderabad and other one in Bangalore. The movie is coming in around 4,000 screens across India, so apart from those four screens, the rest of the screens will have the same ticket price as of previous films. This is the first Indian film in IMAX and the ticket rates of IMAX is more than other tickets. If you want to see in IMAX the price will be as per IMAX standards,” he added.
Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, Dhoom 3 also features Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra and it released today.
