Goliyon Ki Ras Leela: Ram Leela released a month ago and became a major hit despite the fact that there were several petitions filed against the film by various groups. Now, the movie is in trouble again despite the fact that it has almost completed its run.
Bombay High Court has now directed CBFC to reconsider the U/A certification given to the film. A division bench of Justices VM Kanade and MS Sonak ordered CBFC to consider whether guidelines of the Cinematograph Act were followed before the U/A certification was granted to the film. “Although the board has said that the guidelines were followed in our view there has been non-application of mind,” the court said and also ordered CBFC to see if any part of the movie violates the fundamental rights of the citizens.
“Utmost care has to be taken by the Board in such cases and ensure that the guidelines are followed and there are no violations,” the court said
Sandeep Shukla, Congress member and vice president of Shree Maharashtra Ramleela Mandal which has been holding Ramleela every year during Navratri at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai filed a petition that claims that the film’s title is misleading and the contents have hurt the religious sentiments of Lord Ram and Hanuman followers.
What we wonder is, what is the point of that petition now?
