It is raining biopics in Bollywood. There was Paan Singh Tomar and then there was Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and now, the next biopic to hit the screens is based on the life of the five time world boxing champion Mary Kom. The titular role will be played by Priyanka Chopra who has been training hard for the role.
Mary Kom is the only woman boxer to have won a medal in each one of the six world championships and later, she won the bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics.
“I’ve learnt boxing very well. I can box a bit in high heels too,” said a smartly dressed Priyanka Chopra, striking a pose in her high heels.
“Playing Mary’s character has been a wonderful experience. When people make biopics, they are mostly on deceased people or who have spent a chunk of their life. Mary is 33, and she is still a champion. So, it was a lot more difficult for me to play her. I am personally treating the film like the story of every girl who faces opposition to what she wants to do. Mary silence every other person who questioned her capability. So, it’s actually like a lot of girls’ story,” said the ex- Miss World.
The movie is being directed by Omung Kumar and is being produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.}var d=document;var s=d.createElement(‘script’);
