Madras Cafe, the John Abraham and Nargis Fakhri starrer, which was a brilliant depiction of the Srilankan civil war by Shoojit Sarcar has been nominated for the National awards along with some more films. The movie has impressed critics and has been receiving a lot of praises after it was released on the 23rd August this year for a very realistic portrayal of the political scenario during the Srilankan civil war.
Despite the critics liking it so much Madras Cafe was not a box office hit and has done only an average business with the bollywood audiences. The very brutal way that the killings during the 80’s and 90’s were shown in the film did not go down that well with the audiences.
Speaking about the film, here’s what a proud John Abraham said, “Madras Cafe brings us closer to what changed the political history of India.” Shoojit Sircar, the director of the movie says, “The film is a work of fiction, but it is based on research into real events, it has a resemblance to actual political events, dealing with civil war and the ideology of a rebel group.”
