The present scenario where film collections have broken the Rs 100 crore ceiling with box office collections even crossing the Rs. 200 crore mark, it’s a no brainer that the next big release needs to set the bar higher. Post the collections record of 237 crores till date set by Krrish 3 will be a very tough task for the next big release Dhoom 3 which is slated to release on December 20. owever, to facilitate the earnings of the film, rumours suggest that the makers and distributors of the film have decided to hike the price of the tickets.
Sources within the industry have claimed that the tickets can be expected to be priced as high as Rs. 500 at regular multiplexes. Apart from this, Dhoom 3 being the first Hindi film to release in the much talked about IMAX format, the price of these tickets will be even higher.
A source who is part of leading multiplex chain says, “As of now there has been no decision taken in terms of hiking the ticket prices for Dhoom 3, however there are chances that the rates may be hiked for the release that coincides with the holiday season of Christmas.”
Commenting on the development Rafiq Gangjee from YRF says, “Nothing has been fixed as yet by the exhibitors”. In the past we have seen films like Salman Khan’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ and ‘Chennai Express’, Ajay Devgn’s ‘Son Of Sardaar’ and Aamir’s ‘Talaash’ that released with higher ticket prices.
