The year 2013 has been nothing less than a fairy-tale journey for Deepika Padukone, the sexy actress delivered back-to-back successful films in 2013, says that the biggest compliment she ever got for her latest film ‘Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-leela’ was from filmmaker Shekhar Kapur.
“The biggest compliment which I got for ‘Ram-leela’ was from Shekhar Kapur. I received a message from him which says that I have added so many layers to Leela that even Shakespeare didn’t think while writing for Juliet. For me, that’s the big compliment,” Deepika told our reporter.
Her first big hit of 2013 was ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ which was followed by ‘Chennai Express’. With ‘Ram-leela’, Deepika has scored a hattrick and she says she is enjoying every moment of it.
“All I can say is I am thankful to God and I am enjoying every moment of it. It is very overwhelming for me that ‘Ram-leela’ is doing so well. It’s a perfect combination of what I ideally want for all my films, being crtically acclaimed as well as doing well at the box office,” she said.
Meanwhile, we even got a chance to ask Deepika about where her ego is even after becoming a major success of 2013.. The dazzling actress replied saying, “I have no ego. People tell me that I am a very grounded person. You just told me that you heard these qualities about me from various people you met. Having said that, I haven’t got time for a second to step out and gauge myself. That’s a huge compliment and I think that comes from the way I’ve been brought up by my parents. More than the success, it’s really about enjoying the journey and enjoying with the people that I work with, and when you start believing that, you know that everything else is secondary. Success comes from having a good time and enjoying yourself and knowing that there’s nothing in the world that I’ll be doing besides acting. I am in that place right now. In my last two years I’ve sacrificed everything for my work – my food, my sleep, my social life, my family time. But when you are doing something that you love so much, the question I ask is – Is it called a Sacrifice? ”
‘Ram Leela’ is directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and also features Ranveer Singh in the lead along with Deepika Padukone
