Like father, like son. Well, this is the case with Director Raju Hirani who went to attend his son Vir’s debut directorial screening at the 18th International Children’s Film Festival India. Yes, Like Sr. Hirani, his son Vir too is very much interested in directing. ir Hirani’s film Return Gift is inspired by an incident narrated to him by his grandmother. Vir has taken part in the ‘Little Director’s category at the film festival. The occasion was made special as both father and son shared the stage as directors for the first time.
Praising the films he saw, Hirani said, “I really enjoyed watching these films. I want to come again and watch all these films. When I was 15 years-old, I could not have done this. If somebody would have given me a camera then, I would have had no idea what to do with it. What these guys are doing is absolutely amazing! Most of them had a social issue in mind which was fascinating. All the films had a message so they are trying to use the medium of cinema to teach something which is fantastic! Keep up the good work! This is just the start. I can see that you have understood the language of cinema. Cinema has a language of shots, music, which are the tools and you all using them so fantastically at this age. I am sure you all are going to have your films releasing in multiplexes where people will pay to watch them ten years down the line. God bless you all!”
