Shahid and Shraddha Kapoor have begun shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Haider’ in Srinagar, near Dal Lake. The film is the third in Bhardwaj’s Shakespearan trilogy. The story is based on the people of Kashmir – both in period and present.
As Shahid and Shraddha shot a few sequences for the movie on the lake, a large crowd had gathered near the shooting location. Locals are complaining that the shooting is adversely affecting their daily life, as their movements have allegedly been restricted by the J&K police.
Says a locale, “We are not against Bollywood but we don’t like the fact that we are not allowed to go about our daily routine when they are around. We are not terrorists, but our movements are restricted whenever Bollywood returns to the Valley.”
Meanwhile, says a source close to the project, “Haider will have two looks. Kashmir in winter and Kashmir in summer. Shahid will play Hamlet in a modern Kashmiri context with the unrest in the Valley forming a backdrop. And yes, Kashmir would be prominently featured and named in the film.”
The crew of ‘Haider’ has been given Tier 2 security by CRPF and J&K Police.
