West Bengal Govt To Honor Bengali Actresses in Bollywood

Deciding to honor top 5 Bengali actresses in Bollywood, the director of the Kolkata International Film Festival, Jadav Mondal said, “The idea is to award ‘Panch Kanya’ (Five Women) from Bengal who have done well at the national level in Bollywood.”

The actresses who are going to be honored are Moushumi Chatterjee, Sushmita Sen, Rani Mukherjee, Bipasha Basu, Konkona Sen Sharma. They will be felicitated by the West Bengal government at the closing ceremony of the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF).

Moushumi, Sushmita and Bipasha have already confirmed their attendance to the film festival which kicks off on November 17th, at the Science City Auditorium in Kolkata.

“We are hopeful that Rani and Konkona will also soon confirm their presence,” Mondal added.

Additionally, Sharmila Tagore, Madhur Bhandarkar and Shoojit Sircar will also be present at the fest which will be inaugurated in the presence of Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun Chakraborthy, Kamal Hassan and Shahrukh Khan.
