If Bollywood was a religion like Cricket, the Shahrukh Khan would be the Sachin Tendulkar of Bollywood. Both of them have similar qualities, they make records and then they break their own records, they are super talented, and they are both short! Another thing that’s common? We love them both!!
Shahrukh Khan attended the National School of Drama in Delhi and polished his already excellent acting skills. He got his first break with Deewana in 1992 and that’s just in one year of him shifting to Mumbai. He appeared in few more movies like Dil Aashna Hai, Chamatkar before finally getting to play the lead role with a well known actress. His appearance in Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman was praised by everyone. The cute persona and shy nature got him rave reviews. But even then, he hadn’t made it big in Bollywood.
Another two movies like King Uncle and Maya Memshaab before he finally got his big gig. He played the baddie with a cause in Baazigar and the audience went crazy over his psychotic nature. Then came Darr and everyone lost their mind. We loved him as an actor and hated him characters with a passion. He had made a name for himself by this time. Not a permanent place in Bollywood but a name. His existence was noted. And then came Anjaam and boy did we hate him??
Shahrukh Khan changed his path and started appearing in movies like Kabhie Haan Kabhi Naa, Zaamana Deewana and Karan Arjun. His brotherly love towards Salman Khan in the movie was praised and it could be seen that he was making his presence felt. So, that was task two completed. He now had just one thing to do. Act in a movie produced by a huge banner and put his heart and soul while working for that movie and make the movie a sensational hit.
Like a blessing, then came DDLJ or rather Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. The movie had all the elements to make it a hit. It had Kajol, was produced by Yash Raj Films, directed by Yash Chopra, shot in Switzerland and uff, songs by Lata Mangeshkar. And just like that, his dream came true and Shahrukh Khan became one of the biggest chocolate hero ever. To this day, every girl who has watched DDLJ wants to find her Raj. Girls don’t pray for a good boyfriend/husband. They pray for their Raj to come over and sweep them off their feet.
And thus started his journey in Bollywood. From literally a nobody to a baddie and then the best romantic hero. If it was anyone else, I’m sure they would survive so many changes in Bollywood. He gave us many hit movies and took back home several Filmfare awards. Eventually he got to be known as the King of Bollywood and to his day he is the reign of Bollywood.
Team Celebden wishes Shahrukh Khan a very Happy Birthday and hopes he has many more to come!
