Akshay Kumar’s Boss had a decent run in the first two-three days but later, it started going on a downward slide. Though it topped the domestic charts, the collections of the movie are not as much as the makers would have liked. In fact, it grossed less in one week than what Akki’s previous film Rowdy Rathore had grossed in the first three days.
The week’s breakup of collections since it released is Rs 12.75 cr on Wed, Rs 8 cr on Thu, Rs 6 cr on Fri, Rs 6 cr on Sat, Rs 8 cr on Sun, Rs 2.5 on Mon and Rs 2.3 cr on Tue; coming to a total of Rs 45.55 crores. Rowdy Rathore had grossed Rs 48 crores in the first three days, despite the fact that it was released in lesser number of theatres than Boss– Rowdy Rathore was released in 2500 theatres while Boss was released in 3000 theatres.
The fact that it released on a holiday in the middle of the week and that it had Akshay Kumar in a desi avatar; saved the film from being a complete disaster. That it had no competition, was a saving grace.
