RGV’s Satya 2 or Satya 1? Which one will it be?

Finally the wait has ended. Just few more days and we can witness another master piece by Ram Gopal Varma. Come on guys! We can cut him some slack and try our best to ignore his movies like ahem, Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, Agayat, Phoonk and then it’s sequel! But on the bright side, he also gave us killer movies like Rakta Charitra 1 and 2, Sarkar and Sarkar Raj, Comapany didn’t he? And how can we forget his breakthrough? Satya!

Satya 1 was a fresh perspective. The movie took us through the dregs of Mumbai and showed us how the business was really done. How people were murdered in cold blood and how invincible these gang leaders were. The movie brought about a change and this wasn’t just a change in the genres of movies being produced but a lot of things. The direction was different, it was a low budget movie, there were no hotshots to make the movie popular, no rape scenes (which were a rage back then) no romantic songs, no dream sequences, there were murders, violence and that is what sold the movie.

Back to Satya 2. This movie is coming out at a time where every single person in Bollywood wants to be associated with the famous 100 crore club. The things that sell movies are dirty dance numbers, songs with weird lyrics, nudity, steamy scenes, lame comedy or few popular actors. Oh, how did we forget? The movie has to be backed by a big production house and has to be publicized in every mall, college, street possible. Will RGV’s Satya 2 survive in such a place?

We are well aware of how Ram Gopal Varma rolls. He isn’t after the money. For him its all about making master pieces. He is like the Joker from Batman. You know? Some guys just want to watch the world burn? But Ram Gopal Varma isn’t that crazy but he is not typical either.

We for sure know that if God forbid the movie fails at the box office, it wouldn’t effect Ram Gopal Varma. Mentally that is. It will surely effect him financially. But that’s not what this movie is about. It’s not about being a hit, it’s not about making it to the 100 crore club and it most certainly is not a making a mark. This movie is about resurrecting his failing career.

Will he succeed? Or will he fail miserably? We will just have to wait and hope for the best. And that’s for everyone sake! Because we don’t want a talented director to turn vengeful and take a fall that he will never recover from.
