Bollywood’s established superstars have seen rough patches with their films’ collections recently as Shahid Kapoor’s Phata Poster Nikla Hero and Ranbir Kapoor’s Besharam and Akshay Kumar’s Boss failed to mesmerize the audience.
Besharam did a business of about 44.25 crores in five days, which was something like a let down for Ranbir himself. Akshay Kumar’s Boss fell flat with a collection of just 38.23 crores with a good start of about 11.87 crores on day one.
However, the trade doesn’t seem to think it will add up to anything spectacular in the coming period. A leading distributor says, “The pre-Diwali period is usually very dull. With three big releases not grabbing the required number of eyeballs, the mood is bleak.” And, to make matters worse, there is heavy traffic in cinema halls with as many as eight releases lined up on October 25. The six Bollywood ones are Mickey Virus, Ishk Actually, Satya 2, Wake Up India, Sooper Se Ooper and Dilli Gang.
