Katrina Kaif to boost crackers sale this Diwali!

With Diwali just around the corner, the fireworks stalls are doing everything they can to boost their sales, they are trying to innovate and display the best things so that they can maximise their sales. And among these, Bollywood star faces are in huge demand on fire cracker boxes this festive season too..

“The pictures of Bollywood actors are put on the boxes to woo customers as the chances of a person buying fireworks packaged in such a manner are much higher,” says a fireworks distributor.

While crackers with images of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Preity Zinta on top of the crackers box was in huge demand last year, it looks like Katrina Kaif has grabbed the top spot this year. The ‘British Indian actress’ appears on variety of different products including sparklers, rocket shots and multi-coloured flower pots.

According to the distributors, any actress who is in news because of hit film or some personal scandals make it to the front of the crackers boxes as this helps them increase their sales. Other popular actors who’s photo on the front of the boxes are in huge demand are stars like Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Asin, Bipasha Basu and Deepika Padukone. While one would have expected the Chennai Express actress to rule the roost this season, a third generation wholesale fireworks distributor, observes, “Deepika will be big next Diwali because the packaging for fireworks is done in December.”

New crackers which made their way into the market this season are:

Krrish attack: This is a unique kind of cracker. The cracker box is full of toys with little gunpowder in it. Once burst, different kinds of goodies including currency, stickers and toy models are thrown up in the air. This is targeted more at the young age people.

Money-spinner gold: Consisting of 100 tubes connected together, one can witness an impression of gold coins post the blast.

Pyrotechnic fireworks: This season, aerial shots get more innovative as many fireworks companies have added a chemical to crackers that allows one to distinguish different colours including blood red, bright orange, purple as well as deep green.
